comment balloons for individual images.
Happy Friday! Yesterday afternoon we released our tagged comment feature and it’s gone great. We are so very excited to finally launch this feature for you and think you’ll love it. Thank you so much for your patience and feedback along the way, we appreciate you all very much and look forward to rolling out some more great features soon. Thank you!

Hi Everyone! We hope you're enjoying the recently released client presentation UI as well as the brand new Album View interface. We know you are anticipating the individual tagging of images and so are we. Both of the recent upgrades were very big updates for us, that were 100% required before we could launch this feature. We unfortunately could not layer commenting on individual images over our old infrastructure, so we had to take the time for a major overhaul. Now that we've completed the new Album View and the infrastructure behind it, we're full go right now on this feature for you guys and really excited about how it's coming together. We're a small team, but we're working really hard to bring you guys this feature and a lot more in the coming months. Thank you!

Just had an email through from albumexposure about the new album view and how awesome it is - great I thought lets pop back and have a look and see if the ability to comment on individual images is now in place...... err no. Can't really believe that this has been around since 2009 and I last comment in October 2013 about how ridiculous it was that this feature wasn't available. Last comment from albumexposure was almost a year ago so I guess its time to face the facts that this is never gonna happen and unsubscribe from the mailing list as all the BS updates I get mailed about are all pretty pointless. Such a shame as there were many features of AE I liked but the lack of this facility was too much of pain.

I can understand David's disappointment. The number of votes this idea has and for the period of time its been asked for should have been immediately addressed. I have a lot of clients who are not comfortable with leaving comments because of this particular feature missing. I think I had enough. Am moving out cause it does not make sense for me as its not providing the convenience to either me or my clients.

I am so sorry. I am very disappointed. VERY disappointed. My first reaction to the new UI was , what the HECK is this.
I have been with AlbumExposure I believe since 2008. We have been begging for a tag system for all those years. Waiting YEARS to get the basic functionality EVERY other alternative to AlbumExposure already has. Fundy's Album Proofer has had the tagging for many years now.
And today we get... what? the comment box moved from the bottom to the right of the screen. That's it? Am I suppose to be excited about what?
I expected my albums to take advantage of the larger screen now available allowing them to look larger. I expected the tag system to be in place by now, well, really years ago.
I really like you guys, but you have let me down. Just tell me what I should keep waiting?
This is the end of the road for me. cannot wait any longer.
Very disappointing

Any updates for us Gary? Will we see something at WPPI? I know the clock is ticking for me. My current plan expires in March and if I'm going to implement a new system I want to do it before wedding season kicks back into high gear. Can't afford to be implementing new systems in the middle of wedding season. Your competitor has this feature and they are a few $$ cheaper than your current solution.

@Bruce & others - Thanks for hanging with us while we build it out, it's going to be really, really slick! We didn't want to just slap on the feature, so we're doing it right. What that means, is a full update to the presentation UI for both you and your clients first. Then we'll integrate the new comment feature right in. I'm confident you'll absolutely love it...it will be so much better than anything others have done to date, I can promise you that. Everything is planned and designed, now we're knee deep in development. Naturally, it's hard to say how quickly development will go, but we're shooting to get this released by the end of the year or as soon as humanly possible. Appreciate you guys and look forward to adding this for you. Email me at support@albumexposure.com if I can answer anything else for you. Thanks!

Any update on when this might be rolling out? I'm considering switching to Album Draft as this feature would definitely make the proofing process easier for us and our clients and Album Draft already has this capability.

Awesome!!! Really looking forward to this update.

Is there an actual eta of when this feature will be released? Album revisions have been more complicated without this basic feature, which is making it more enticing to switch to a different proofing site.

Awesome to hear that tagging will be added to Album Exposure. Thanks.

Andre & B+B,
We do understand the desire for this feature and are planning to implement it this year. I hope that brings some joy and helps you know we are listening.
As for my previous explanation, it was rooted in data we collected from multiple focus groups and conversations with many of our users about the topic some time back. However, times do change and we're always open to shifting gears to meet our user's needs, which is why we'll be improving the comment interface and including a tagging type feature for making those more complicated designs really easy to proof.
Appreciate you guys and everyone's feedback. We're always working to make things better for you and your clients, so please keep the conversation going.

+1 to "It's embarrassing this simple feature isn't present"
Even more embarrassing is Gary Sikes' explanation of why this hasn't been implemented. Because it makes revising too easy? Resulting in too many comments? Thats really selfish. Call me crazy but I want the easiest, most simple workflow for my client. It's embarrassing and a waste of their time that they have to describe the image and the image location on the page when they could just simply click on it to leave a comment.
Not having comment bubbles is why it takes my clients HOURS rather than MINUTES to communicate their revisions.
I welcome any feature that will make life easier for my clients, even if it results in more comments from them. It's their album they'll have for the rest of their lives and I want it to be perfect in their eyes. I'm not worried about a few extra revisions just because it's easier for them to communicate it.
Please implement this feature. -

This is sorely needed. Other solutions out there already implement this as standard and it does make our lives much easier than to try and guess what image the client wants to change. If you have a spread with 20 images, it´s always a problem to try and guess if the client is counting columns and rows page by page or on the whole spread. It would be great to use it on tablets and touch devices also.

i was sent to this thread for bringing up this same suggestion. i think it makes the designers life a lot easier to decipher - if a couple is going to make that many changes or requests anyway, not having the balloons wont discourage them it will just make everyone involved go crazy.

So this was first raised in 2009 and appears to be the highest voted for item on the list and yet it still hasn't been done... judging by the comments below you say your listening to us as your customer but still haven't done it because you/someone somewhere said they don't want it - sounds like a cop out to me. This feature should be here already rather than under review and rather than fobbing us off with a some people don't like it just put it as an option on each album and the few that don't want to use it don't have to. Come on Album Exposure stop working on changes with 3-4 votes and work on the one with 145 - the one your customers actually want

i love this idea. this is very necessary. i have some clients who are extremely detail oriented and change their minds about image styles all the time.

I also agree that this feature would be very useful. I'm using this program and Fundy's for different clients. Hoping that I can switch over completely to album exposure. I think you could simply let photographers enable or disable the function so you serve everyone.

Hey Suman, YES! We are always listening and very much appreciate the thoughtful feedback everyone continues to provide. We are definitely aware of the interest in this feature and have historically chosen not to do for strategic reasons. With a bit of research, we found that the introduction of image tagging or comment balloons on the presentation itself actually encouraged 'more' comments from the client. From this perspective, we heard from many users that on second thought not including it made good sense for efficiency of their process. With a bit of direction and education, clients have enjoyed the experience while only sharing a limited amount of comments...hurrah! albums completed more quickly. We also know times change and some needs remain, so if this feature can provide additional clarity to the process, we're certainly willing to consider this for inclusion at this time.

As everyone said I think this is THE feature that has to be done immediately.
